Foundry Sand:

Clay has capability of play role of glue in molding sand mix, also fitting silicon grains, along foundry process. This process happens while grains lose their humidity and contraction in a way that will not result in breakup of grain connections. We can also add water to it again and use it multiple times. This type of clay is used multiple times for shaping metals and alloys. Usually, bentonites containing sodium are more compatible with clay. Most of cast iron foundries use artificial sand that contain silica sand and controlled amount of clay concrete and charcoal round ash. In Metal Foundry, they add sand that contains bentonite, cornstarch and glucose. In this case, sand turns into a system that recycles and has multiple usage. Control of this sand system for a steady effect on foundry, requires an important and effective technology.

 

Drilling mud:

Bentonite due to it suspension and standard viscosity in density and liquid capacity in case of inflation, is used as additive in drilling mud. This type of bentonite is mostly sodic and swelling. When sodic bentonite gets into water, large layers of sodium bentonite changes into colloidal particles and stored electrical energy gets released that will swell into 31 to 85 times of its size. This process is used in spreading heavy materials and cutting drilling. In other hand, it turns into mud with viscosity disruption gel. These attributes results in cover on wall of well that prevents passing gas or liquid. Viscosity of mud results in transfer and floating of dug out pieces and its ability of disruption gel prevents settlement of these materials.

 

Pelletizing:

Bentonite is used as one important ingredient in limestone pellet production. By this process, these stones convert into spherical pellets that are used for feeding materials of explosion ovens for production of metal for casting or for direct production of metal. Adherence of bentonite is used for clewing Iron-ore concentrate. For this usage, wet bentonite gets combined with Iron-ore concentrate. Type of bentonite used for this, is sticky and must have enough resistance in both wet and dry styles. Bentonite is mostly famous for its hydrophilic ability in pelletizing production which increases resistance of raw pellets. In addition, raw pellets which bentonite is added to its first ferruginous shall get dry out faster.

 

Tile and Ceramic industry:

Tiles are used in two sections: Floor, Wall. Water absorption of wall tiles is 89 percent and floor tiles is less than 3 percent. A tile’s attributes are high dry resistance, chemical resistance to glaze, and good quality for glaze level. Here are some effects of using bentonite in tiles on floor or wall: Thickness expansion after press, raw and dry strength with low beaten, high water absorption, and high strength after press.

 

Ground (electricity):

These days, active bentonite grout is mostly used instead of traditional material like salt and charcoal. Active bentonite not only is cheaper, but also it has low resistance to electricity, high strength for protection of electrodes and wall of well. All these result in longer life of pole and plate (much less corrosion and oxidation. with neutral salt inside not only has no effect on corrosion, but also it creates a good ionic condition for conductor.

This product decreases freezing degree of soil by creating porosity and fixing soil structure. Due to its natural ingredients, it has no harm to nature. By using this method, size and depth of ground network is less and this makes it economic.

 

Nature and industrial waste:

Heavy metal ionic in industrial wastes created so many irreparable effects on nature and its creatures. One of the easiest and economic ways for fixing this problem is using level absorption. Because ability of water absorption and restore in bentonite for clearing wastes is very effective. In other hand, adding bentonite as a lubricant creates protection and fixes soil at places like desert that have low permeability versus dirty water damage.

 

Construction and civil structures:

Sodium Bentonite has good plasticity and is a good lubricant, has high cut resistance, low impermeability and compressibility. Beaten bentonite creates a good inscrutable on floor or wall in sewage tank, industrial swamp, embedded location for nuclear wastes underground, dam built, channel and trenches.

Although, bentonite in civil engineering has other uses protection factor in protection factor or lubricator on retaining wall, tunnel, foundation, horizontal dig and piping. Due to its adherence and flexibility, it is also used in preparing cement and mortar.

 

Improver:

It is used for changing attributes of organic components like viscosity, suspension, etc. of sodium bentonite. This mater is also used in producing papers without carbon, drilling mud, grease, paint, ink.

Bentonite in Farming and livestock industries:

It has so many uses like sulfur, chicken manure pellets, soil improver, pesticides, aquatic food, food supplement for livestock and birds.
